Imagine if every student in say, Los Angeles suddenly had $29k (estimate of how much is spent per child in the LAUSD) to offer any school that would take them? That is a revolution. This seems to me to be something they could all agree on and could be a real show of force for the importance of fair shot for every student in the US to get a great education. Imagine how many schools would be open, reopened or added onto? Imagine the billionaires lining up to sponsor schools…celebrities….Imagine the freedom the students in the worst schools would suddenly have?! The wealthiest 10 or 20 people in the USA could bring this about if they pooled their funds and created a non profit that offered to gift the funds for any school that is opened, reopened or added onto in a state that offered full ESA’s with a scale perhaps for more funds the bigger the per student allotment. I agree with Steve Hardy on the educational revolution that would be started with ESA’s or some other transfer of funds from the state and federal government to the citizens of the education money spent. Did I miss that part? Is it in the book? Brilliant idea and I wonder if it is going on somewhere else right now. I did not hear you discuss the deal terms for the venture. I ordered the book which is, I think, why Ryan does a podcast in the first place so it worked.
